- I got a job.... or I start my new career in September! I am teaching gr.12 English, Career Development, Native Studies and possibly a Biology (eeek). I took the job for one major reason. I really like the staff at the school. The principal is amazing and I'd be working with a small staff. If there is one thing I learned from my past career (support work) is that it doesn't matter how much you love your job, if you don't have a good working relationship with your boss or coworkers you'll hate your job. It is also good to work with people who are on the same wave length as you. It's really disheartening to be around miserable, caddy people all the time. A bonus of this job is that I teach 1 night class so I don't start until 11:30am everyday (this may change depending on scheduling).
- Our youth conference was a HUGE success. I can't explain how happy I was to see students come from other places and actually be engaged and enjoy themselves. We had a wonderful community walk. We walked across the bridge (adjoining the 2 communities) to the school across the river. There we had a ceremony. It began with a honor song by a local drumming group. It was amazing, tears were flowing.... it was that powerful. Then the major and chief spoke on suicide and our communities. The chief blew me away with his honest, heartfelt speech. Then my friend did a memory speech of Blair (my good friend). A local girl sang Hallelujah and I cried some more. I am just so impressed with how it all came together, how our committee worked so hard and how the community supported us so much.
- Only 1 week of school left, then spring break and a 8 week practicum and I am done! Wooohoo.
- We will hopefully be in our new place in less than a month... wooohooo again!
