sun after the rain

A lot of rain not a lot of sun here. But today it's out. So everything looks fresh. I love it.

To make the day just that much better I bought local plants, herbs, asparagus, radishes, a cucumber, lettuce, pasta, and blueberry honey. I am on my way out to search for some local dairy products. Then I'll come home and make a delicious chicken, asparagus, cheesy pasta dish! Oh and I have some BC wine that will make it just that much better.

So after spending my day searching out fresh local produce I decided I am going to make my best attempts to eat local this summer. I've done the grunt work. I have the recipe books. I know where all the farmers markets and speciality stores are. So I don't have an excuse. I am even going to go as far as to try a Manitoba made Christmas. Yes yes I know it's WAY early but in my defence with my potential move this fall I should jump on the Christmas band wagon now or I'll be stuck with shopping in The Pas. I don't want that!

I feel motivated again. I had a little case of the winter blues but now I am awakened to spring. I can't wait to get up Saturday mornings and go to the markets, drive out to the u-picks after work, pack picnics on the weekends, drink cosmos on the patios, warm up by the bonfire, listen to music in the exchange, lay on the beach, bbqs in the backyard, evening walks, coffees in the hammocks, and take roadtrips.

Cheers to the perfect time of year!
