So we've been looking for a place and last week discovered a few treed lots for sale. I think we're going to buy 4 acres and bring a house in. I've been looking at ready to move homes online. I am confident this will be a stressful journey but in the end we might get exactly what we want for a reasonable price.
It is amazing how housing increases so much, 15 yrs ago my parents bought a rtm for half the price and theirs included moving it here building the basement and all the hook ups. I can't imagine what the prices will increase to next!
It's hard for me too make all these decisions. I want to build an energy efficient home and be environmentally conscious but I don't even know where to start. I think I'd like geothermal but it is fairly expensive, however it is suppose to pay off later. I also am not a huge fan of bigger is better. Davide on the other hand is. Part of me wanting to build out of town is because I'd like to use the outdoors as living space, whether it be a deck, patio, fire pit, play structures or sandboxes.
I know there are people you can pay to make your home green but I feel like there is so much information out there that I should be able to do it myself. So I guess we have some work to do.
But it is exciting.... I just wish all my friends weren't moving away or that some would move back. There are 4 acres next to where we are considering buying, that could easily be filled with some good neighbours!

I can't believe its been 15 year already with that house.
If you figure out how to make your home green keep me informed. I want to do more but I haven't a clue where to start. I thought of adding solar panels but who knows if it is actually worth it!
