Homemade Summer

One of the perks, not the best perk, but nonetheless a perk of teaching is that we are blessed with an entire 2 months off of school. So here I am, a week into my summer vacation. What am I going to do with myself?

My holidays started off busy - year end bbq's and Canada Day bbq's. Then of course the much anticipated Folk Festival and now, well now I have nothing to do.

Some may revel in the thought of doing absolutely nothing, but I am not one of those people. So I have decided to challenge myself this summer. Here are a few of my plans:

- maintain my garden, which I planted to harvest the ingredients to make Borscht, Salsa, Tomato Sauce, Pesto, Pickles and mounds of zucchini, squashes, beets and carrots to store away for a few months.

- create a recycling system that works - including composting - so far so good!

- homecooked meals everyday, including going "meatless this month"

- teach myself to finish 2 quilts I started

- paint my kitchen

- avoid the sweaty gym at all costs and enjoy the outdoors (replacing the guilt of not going to the gym)

- Read Read Read - please send me suggestions, the mail strike is over and an amazon order is due

So far that's all I got. Any suggestions? I want to keep busy but also enjoy my summer. I thought about travelling but travelling exhausts me and well I don't really have any travel buddies. It's not out of the question but as of right now I am staying put.
